Articles and information about the Climate Emergency are full of terms that are not always properly explained. We hope you will find this glossary useful.
Climate Crisis : The threat to human welfare and survival resulting from rising global temperatures mainly caused by greenhouse gas emissions
Greenhouse Gases or Greenhouse Gas Emissions : A mix of carbon dioxide (mainly created by burning of fossil fuels), methane, nitrous oxide and other gases which trap heat in the atmosphere and warm the planet
Net Zero : The state in which greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere are balanced by their removal out of the atmosphere
Carbon Footprint : The total greenhouse gas emissions caused by an individual, household, organisation, place or product, usually expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e)
