Leicestershire County Council is a stakeholder in the Midlands Forest Network project to join up woodland, wood pasture and tree lined boundaries to create a physical network for nature in Leicestershire.
The network is looking to create partnerships with local communities. Together, they are supporting people in Leicestershire to plant and grow trees aiming to re-green and transform the environment.
They are holding a session aimed at network members who are representing organisations and Leicestershire residents and businesses with an interest in their community to help make the vision of planting 700,000 trees possible by getting involved through the partnership.
An information session on the Midlands Forest Network project and how to get involved in nature and biodiversity initiatives has now been planned.
The online session will be taking place as follows:
Date: 12 September 2024
Time: 1.00pm - 2.30pm
Session: Online via Zoom (Link will be sent a week before the session)
You can sign up via the Microsoft Booking Form via the Leicestershire Communities website.
A guest speaker from the Tree Council will also talk about community initiatives that everyone can take part in.
You will also have the opportunity to hear from the Communities Network Foundation who are passionate about bringing together both existing and developing local groups and individuals with an interest in community, sustainability and biodiversity. The Foundation aims to share best practice, avoid duplication of effort and give an independent voice to communities and individuals.
This first Communities Network session on planting trees initiative will be followed by a second face to face session where you will learn the practical steps needed to plant trees.
