Thank you for being a valued friend of Harborough Climate Action. Whether you’re a member, a meeting participant, or simply a supporter, we want to wish you a joyful holiday season and a happy New Year!
Highlights from Our Open Meetings
In 2024, your input has been invaluable. You may have participated in one of our open meeting discussions; if not, sit back and relax as we share the highlights of the discussions you missed. The team has listened to your feedback, collated your notes, and now we’re here in your inbox to share all of your insightful contributions back to you!
First and foremost, you deliberated how we can improve our personal carbon footprints from walking to gardening, here are your top tips:
Lifestyle changes: avoid flying, cycle and walk instead of driving, minimise plastic use, eat less meat and dairy, buy less, and prioritise local suppliers and wildlife-friendly gardens.
Energy savings: improve home insulation, switch to renewable energy suppliers, install solar panels, explore air source heat pumps.
Community engagement: join local groups like Sustainable Harborough Community, Flood Wardens, woodland planting initiatives; or green energy co-ops.
Use our voice: talk to family and friends, write to councillors and MPs, raise climate issues in meetings, in surgeries and on social media.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we reflect on another record-breaking year for global average temperatures, your thoughts, worries and advice have shaped our plans for the year ahead. In 2025 we will:
Actively engage with local councillors to drive positive change.
Support community energy projects.
Provide education and resources to help the community address the climate crisis.
Join Us in 2025!
We very much look forward to seeing you again in 2025… Time to get your diaries out! Our open meetings will be held every third Wednesday of the month at 19:30 in the Octagonal Hall, Our Lady of Victories. These meetings will feature inspiring speakers to educate and inspire us all and an opportunity to connect with others.
The climate crisis is a scary prospect, but thanks to people like you who took the time out of your busy lives to listen and learn, we’re filled with great hope and optimism for the future!
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and a bright 2025!
